Free E-book: The Shrink On Project Management

Cool stuff: Different Work | Your Big Adventure | The Fish Pond

Hundreds of pages are available on this site, all in true web fashion: linked together in a non-linear way. You, my readers, are sometimes lost in all the topics covered. Even I am a victim of this non-linearity sometimes.

With this new ebook I want to provide a linear presentation of my blog postings. You could call it a book-format :)

This is a work in progress. New postings will be added. Old material will be edited.

My own experiment with a 'blook' (blog + book) has been fun. I combined blog posts, lecture outline, 12 team nutrients and packaged it for online delivery as PDF or print-on-demand. There's something of the future in these little experiments. I look forward to reading your book and sense that there will be many commonalities. Good to see these ideas growing in all kinds of places. Ingenuity Arts: Adaptive Leadership and the New Science.

Well-done, Bas. The documentation of your articles in an e-book format crystallize out the total value of otherwise scattered postings over time. Congratualtions for a nice linear book that is not really linear. It compels the reader to think

  12. Bas says:

    thanks Ali! appreciated.

  13. Greetings.

I enjoyed the e-book. Your ideas about the role of the PM in the complex system of the project and how the PM needs to identify “the Hot Cause and the Cool Solution” to engage stakeholders were both very helpful.

You lost me a little on the Panarchy section, and I wish you had gone into more detail at the end of each chapter on what you wanted us to take away from the section.

I also really enjoyed the criteria you identified for determining the type of PM practice to roll out for the project. The criteria helped answer a number of questions I had about the subject.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

  16. Paul Slater says:

    Bas,

Really impressed with your project management e-book especially as it focusses on the hardest element of managing any project, i.e. the people. So many texts concentrate on the techniques of project management it’s great to see this aspect getting the attention it needs. I’ll certainly let others know about it.

    Kindest regards

    Paul
